Although we do “Breed” Weims, we are not your typical breeder. We DO NOT kennel our dogs. They are wonderfully spoiled. They have their own bedroom, complete with a king size bed covered with fuzzy blankets and pillows, their own living room to romp in, and a fenced in acre out back to run and play in. We recently fenced about a quarter of an acre out front and then of course, there is the puppy yard where the puppies can play and not worry about being accidentally trampled by the big dogs. Geoff and I have been together for nearly 14 years and I have 5 children, all finally grown up and out of our home. I didn’t want anymore children so we decided to get dogs. We absolutely love our dogs to death. Our original five still sleep in bed with us. When we travel to rescue a Weim, one of my children will come and stay at our house with our dogs until we return. Geoff works days and I quit my job so that the dogs are not left alone for any length of time. They are all crate trained and wonderfully obedient. They are healthy, happy, beautiful and have the best temperaments of any Weim you will ever meet.                                                      

We have never missed the birth of any of our litters in our 5 years of breeding. Geoff or myself sit right there in the whelping box for the entire whelping. The whelping box is in our bedroom and the puppies are kept there until they are 3 to 4 weeks old so we can keep a close eye on them. We have nearly a 99% survival rate on our puppies and we do guarantee their health. A lot of that is knowing the healthy background on your dogs and how well we take care of them. We feed our dogs and puppies “Royal Canin Maxi”. It is a formula that we have found works wonderful for Weims. It is expensive, but our dogs and puppies are worth it. Also, our dogs get vitamins, calcium and echinacea every day. Our dogs are incredibly healthy and I think the survival rate of our puppies shows that.

We always try to let people who are wanting a Weim for the first time know, the pros and cons of being a Weim owner. They are truly great companion dogs. That was their main breeding trait originally and it runs very strong in the lines of our dogs. They are also so smart and it’s almost scary. We have to lock the doors of the rooms we don’t want the Weims in because they have all figured out how to turn the knob. When I take my bath I lock the door simply because I prefer my bath without having at least two or three Weims climbing right into the tub with me. *smiling* They have learned how to open the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen so there is nothing edible down low. If you are not looking for a dog that will be by your side every minute you are home...you don’t want one of our Weims. Our dogs love everyone. They think that everyone that comes here to the house, comes to see them. Actually, most of the people that do come here, come to meet the dogs and see the puppies. if you accidentally leave your car door open in our driveway, you can pretty much bet there will be one of the big Weims waiting in there for you.

Before we started breeding our dogs, we did extensive research on the history of the dogs we would breed. We found NO genetic or hereditary defects anywhere. In other words, no hip problems.
